Leading lines are paths that guide your viewer's eye from the edge of the frame straight to your subject. Roads, railings, shorelines, even a row of trees — any continuous edge can be a leading line.
The trick is to make the lines actually lead somewhere. Point them at your subject, not off the edge of the frame, so the eye lands somewhere rewarding.
Angle matters too. Lines that come from the bottom corners and converge on a single point create the strongest pull, because they feel like they're moving into the scene.
