25 couple photo poses that look natural (not posed)
Standing, sitting, walking and close-up poses for couples, with prompts that turn stiff smiles into real moments.

Natural couple poses come from prompts, not positions. Instead of "stand there and smile", try "whisper something that will make them laugh" or "walk towards me and bump shoulders". Keep your bodies touching, angle towards each other, and let the photographer (or the timer) catch the moment in between.
Standing
1. The hug from behind. One partner wraps arms around the other from behind, chin on shoulder.
2. Forehead to forehead. Eyes closed, a small smile.
3. The almost kiss. Noses touching, a beat before the kiss.
4. The diagonal. One partner a step closer to the camera, heads on a diagonal. The Two-Point Vertex guide draws the line.
5. Hands on the face. One partner gently holds the other's face.
6. The lean. Both leaning against a wall, shoulders touching, looking at each other.
Walking
7. Hand in hand towards the camera. Talking, not looking at the lens.
8. Walking away. From behind, down a path or street.
9. Leading by the hand. One partner pulls the other forward and looks back.
10. The shoulder bump. Walk and bump shoulders on purpose.
11. The spin. Holding hands, one spins the other.
Sitting
12. On steps. One sitting a step higher, arms around the other.
13. On a blanket. One lying with their head in the other's lap.
14. Legs over legs. On a bench, one partner's legs over the other's.
15. Back to back on the grass.
16. On a pier. Feet dangling, shot from behind.
Close-ups (2x or 3x)
17. The forehead kiss.
18. The nose kiss.
19. Hands intertwined. Just the hands.
20. The whisper. One whispers, the other laughs.
Playful
21. Piggyback. Burst mode.
22. The lift. One lifts the other off the ground.
23. The dip. Like a dance finish.
24. Tickle attack.
25. Photographing each other. One holds the phone up, the other laughs.
Prompts that get real reactions
- "Tell them your favourite thing about them, quietly."
- "Try to make them laugh without speaking."
- "Walk towards me and talk about what you had for breakfast."
- "Close your eyes and listen to their heartbeat."
Framing two people on iPhone
- 2x for portraits. Flattering and blurs the background.
- Chest height camera. Not your own eye level.
- Leave space in the direction they face. Put them off-centre with room on the side they are looking towards.
- Tripod and timer if you are shooting yourselves.
