Travel Shot

Small subject, big scenery

Travel & scenery

The classic travel photo where the place is the star: the person is small at the bottom of the frame and the landmark or landscape fills everything above.

How to shoot it

  1. 1Front lightFace the scene with the sun behind you, ideally when shadows are minimal.
  2. 2High 15°Look down at a 15° angle, shooting from slightly higher than the subject.
  3. 32–3x zoomStay 5–10 metres from the subject and use 2–3x zoom.
  4. 4Subject placementPlace the subject small at the bottom center to emphasize the scenery.

Tip: For two people, place them in the bottom corners facing each other.

Using it in slay

Open slay, pick Travel Shot from the guide picker and the overlay appears on your live viewfinder. Line your subject up with the guide using the gold crosshair, follow the height, angle and zoom above, and shoot — no cropping or editing needed. Finish the look with one of 38 built-in LUTs.
