One-Point Vertex

Single subject on a grid intersection

Food & café

One subject — a drink, a dessert — sits on a grid intersection with empty space on the opposite side. The asymmetry gives depth while keeping all attention on the subject.

How to shoot it

  1. 1Side lightUse natural light from a window-side seat.
  2. 2High 45°Shoot looking down at a 45° angle from above.
  3. 32–4x zoomStay at least 2 metres away and use 2–4x zoom.
  4. 4Vertex placementPlace the subject diagonally at a grid intersection and leave the opposite side empty.

Tip: This emphasizes the subject while conveying depth.

Using it in slay

Open slay, pick One-Point Vertex from the guide picker and the overlay appears on your live viewfinder. Line your subject up with the guide using the gold crosshair, follow the height, angle and zoom above, and shoot — no cropping or editing needed. Finish the look with one of 38 built-in LUTs.
